Not only is Newsletter #27 proudly presenting the Orbis space station in-situ in the game, rather than just the 3-D model shown in Newsletter #23, but it also contains the tantalizing quotes (and screenshot);
“The systems currently open in Premium Beta 1 are close to the galactic plane and so the bright core of the galaxy, which has a very high density of stars, is obscured by enormous dust clouds. The system in the following screenshot is several light years above the galactic plane – you’ll notice the improved view this gives of the galactic core as we are able to look over those dust clouds.”
“We’ll have more news for you on the release date for Premium Beta 2 next week…”
An obvious deduction would be that within a week or two we may well have more systems, probably at least extending a few light years upwards from the current bubble, and an Orbis space station (or more) to play with.
Maybe, just maybe, this peek of the week from the newsletter is hinting at the imminent arrival of a very sexy looking new ship, too!
Of course, Frontier are too cagey to say more right now, so this may well be erroneous, but I sure hope we get this and some other goodies thrown in, especially since I just got the ‘random reset bug’ and lost all my progress!
EDIT: This video confirms the Orbis space station and extra system(s) will be in the next release, but does not confirm a date. [EDIT: Release date confirmed for Tuesday 24th June. See post above for more details.]
(There’s more about my ‘random reset bug’ sob story in the post below, Premium Beta: Growing pains.)
