A quick post to share 2 bug workarounds to help you get more fun from the Beta 2.05 release…
1. Unable to downgrade ship (‘Server request denied’ message): There seems to be some bad math/logic in the code, and/or bad ordering of transactions (the code tries to buy the new ship before selling the old). Workaround: Make sure you have more than the value of the credit you should receive (the negative value on the cheaper ship you wish to buy) before you try to downgrade. If you can get this cash by selling off modules, this might do the trick (though you may run into problems with the loadout not being accepted). The simplest solution is just to run some courier missions, or raise the cash somehow, then return to the starport to make the ship downgrade. You will receive the credit refund, as well as keep the money in your credit account, when the transaction completes.
2. System Authority Vessels (the police) keep going after you, even when you shoot at a known ‘wanted’ pilot (i.e. you have targeted the ship and waited for ‘Wanted’ to appear on your HUD): This is extremely weird, but it seems related to using (or having fitted) pulse lasers. I am not sure if it is only the basic (loaned) lasers you start out with on every ship, but when I switched these to beam lasers on my Viper, this problem went away. I didn’t think of this myself, it was Captain Kremmen’s advice in this thread that set me on the true path.
P.S: The cartographics market seems to be up and running again, for all of you explorers thwarted by the recent server-side cartographic glitch.
