I am very happy to announce that, today, Elitejinja reached more than 10,000 views!
Since, on average, each ‘visitor’ views 2 pages, this equates to approximately 5,000 visits to the site. Of course, each ‘visit’ does not represent a new user of the site. I estimate there are between 100 and 200 regular users at the moment, and this base has been growing consistently over the five months since launch.
Without doubt, guides & tutorials on gameplay and reviews of controllers and peripherals are the most popular subjects, with news on releases close behind. Wallpapers, fan creations and discussion point articles are about half as popular, but remain regularly viewed. This analysis has built my motivation to search for updates to the guides and tutorials database (in light of the recent Beta 2 release).
It’s also great to see a culture of comments and questions slowly growing. I think the ‘comment’ link at the top of each post is rather easy to overlook, which is a shame as I like the overall style of the site otherwise.
The country breakdown probably reflects the distribution of current Elite:Dangerous beta testers, and backers who became involved earlier, plus a growing number of interested people who have not yet bought into the game (perhaps waiting for the gamma or full-release). The only exception would be Brazil, which is disproportionately highly represented, due to word-of-mouth interest via my friends and their friends, etc. The pie chart below also presents the distribution of views by country. [Note to Frontier: Elitejinja is more than happy to help grow your user base in Brazil, if it results in a relay-server in São Paulo to optimize our latency – 😉 – Brazil to UK pings are bottle-necked beyond a consumer’s ability to mitigate through ISP choice].
Thanks for all your interest, support and especially to those who have commented here or on other fora to help guide and motivate me. Fly safe, commanders!
