Bookmark the Elite Galaxy page now, if you love Elite: Dangerous! It really is that good.
Elite Galaxy has the most amazing collection of screenshots and videos from Elite: Dangerous I have ever seen, all presented against a beautifully clean and intuitive interface. Whilst I will undoubtedly be cherry-picking some of the images for my wallpapers section (fully credited, of course), Elite Galaxy could well become the ‘go to’ place for wallpapers with the most breathtakingly gorgeous shots from the Elite: Dangerous galaxy, if it can keep its catalog growing. You will not be disappointed!

Video: Elite: Dangerous Beta 2.05 – NPC bounty hunting, by Jinja
Probably not the most exciting footage, but maybe interesting for those new to the game, or who want to take a look at the Viper in action. Kinda dark, since the old FRAPS I use to capture seems to do this to the video (and my super-duper high quality Shadowplay software tends to mangle the audio).
It’s just some bounty hunting of NPCs in ‘unidentified signal source’ sites. The Viper loadout is shown at the end of the video).
I’m still getting used to the flight mechanics adjustments in Beta 2, so don’t hope for too much! 😉
Video: Beta 2 Review – amazing space game gets better – by Squadb
So, I tried to make a review video, I really did, but my Shadowplay software (also Beta) kept dropping audio. Plenty of other people have already made good reviews, so why reinvent the wheel?
As well as the video above, I have also linked the Infamous Scott Manley’s Elite: Dangerous Beta 2 – More of everything video, and a rather nice video by Metroncube; ED Beta 2.03 – Beautiful ice-rings & some combat.
There’s plenty more out there, since so many more people have now discovered Elite: Dangerous. Not sure if I’ll ever finish my review video, but if not, I’ll certainly write a post about it soon, ‘cos I’m loving the new Beta!
Video: Smuggler (flight assist off), by Isonina
This is yet another great video by Isonina, the infamous flight-assist-off pilot. Aside from the amazing flying skills on display, this is a very cool example of clever use of stealth mechanics.
Note how Isonina selectively powers down systems to lower the ship’s temperature, only using silent running mode when absolutely necessary. This is because silent running closes the radiator vents, risking overheating if power hungry systems are used.
I recommend watching until the final docking… you won’t be disappointed!
Video: Ralfi’s Alley – My thoughts on Elite: Dangerous, by ralfidude.
For those who don’t already know, ralfidude, or Ralfi, is a serious flight-simmer. And I don’t mean just bimbling about from one runway to the next, flicking autopit on whenever possible. I mean playing DCS-A-10C, for example, and playing it well.
This video was planned as a review of Premium Beta 1.0, which it does very fairly and clearly. What it really does, however, is show just what a great pilot can do in an Elite: Dangerous ship, with only a few hours in the pilot’s chair.
Video: Docking a Lakon Type 9 is ‘easy’
So, I’m just about to buy an Anaconda, but I want to share a little of the journey to this point. It’s probably a very similar journey to many others, since Elite: Dangerous is still at such an early stage and there are not many routes to bigger ships.
The Sidewinder was more fun than a starter ship had any right to be, and as I discovered a few times after upgrading to the Eagle, it isn’t bad in a dogfight either. I didn’t really learn to fly it very well, as the ‘bugginess’ of the early Premium Beta (PB) kinda made PvP or NPC bounty hunting a frustrating pastime. Still, I managed to trade enough to fit a couple of decent guns, and farmed the Fed Distress Signal.
